RSI is caused by repetitive movement leading to muscular pains and problems with nerves, ligaments and joints in the upper limbs. Usually work related, the incidence of RSI has risen dramatically with the use of computers and repetitive tasks.
Many groups of working people can be affected, including computer operators, typists, musicians, shop staff and factory workers. Physiotherapists are trained and experienced in treating muscle, nerve, joint and ligament complaints. After assessing your posture, workplace, lifestyle and work patterns, we will devise an appropriate treatment and management programme.
Treatment may include stretching exercises, joint and nerve mobilisation. Electrotherapy and Acupuncture can also be used to help the healing process and relieve pain. If treatment is delayed, RSI can take longer to recover. Physiotherapists can also give preventive advice and provide workstation assessments. |
